Clinical Trials Update: May 5, 2008


(HealthDay News) -- Here are the latest clinical trials, courtesy of Thomson CenterWatch:

Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2

The requirements for participating in this type 2 diabetes study are:

A man or postmenopausal woman (naturally or surgically), age 18 to 70, diagnosed with type 2 diabetes; controlling it without any medications or taking only metformin (Glucophage) for at least two months; able to commit to 14 total days and nights at an Oregon treatment center and make three outpatient visits over a one-month period.

Cardiovascular Abnormalities

If you are at least 18 years old, not pregnant or breast-feeding, not having moderate to severe mitral stenosis (narrowing), no planned major surgery and have not participated in a clinical trial within the past 30 days you may be eligible to participate in this study.

The research site is in New York City.

Breast Cancer

If you have confirmed breast cancer (female only) or prostate cancer and are 18 years old or older, you might be eligible for this breast cancer study.

Successful candidates must have at least one radiographically confirmed metastatic bone lesion and no change of cancer therapy for at least eight weeks.

The research site is in Middlebury, Conn.
